Welcome to Bishop Rock - Year 4

Mr A Kevern

Class Teacher (Mon - Fri)

A Primary School teacher for twenty five years, I have taught across key stage two, from year 3 through to year six. The majority of these years has been happily spent at St Just Primary School.
Outside of school, my interest are playing golf (my eldest son is rather good at it and plays to a high level) and watching sport live and on the TV. My youngest son plays junior rugby for St Ives 'Hakes'. I support Manchester United and Bath Rugby.
I am very proud to teach at St Just Primary and take great delight in seeing our children flourish, from when they come into EYFS and leave at the end of year six prepared for secondary education.
At St Just Primary, I lead both PE and Geography. I am also the designated first aider, fire warden, educational visits coordinator and minibus driver. I also am the TPAT Penwith PE HUB lead teacher and support 13 primary schools across Penwith and Lizard area.

Mrs Georgina Harradine

Teaching Assistant (Mon - Fri)

Our PE days are Monday & Tuesday (Swimming). Please ensure children  wear their PE uniform to school on Monday.

Swimming takes place on Tuesday afternoons at Penzance Leisure Centre during the Autumn term. Children may wear a swimming costume under their clothes to save time changing. Please ensure your child has a towel, goggles and a bag for wet items.
Welcome to the Autumn Term 2024 Myself and Mrs Harradine are looking forward to working with the class throughout year 4.

What do we need to know about Bishop Rock.

The school day starts at 8:45am (register will be taken at 8:50am) and finishes at 3.10pm.

Please arrive via the side gate at school into the bottom playground at 8:45am. We will leave at the KS2 playground gate at 3.10pm.

Break time is 10:30am - 10:45am every day. If your child wishes, they may bring a fruit snack to eat. Please no nuts, we do have pupils with a nut allergy in school. You may also like to bring a named water bottle (water only please) to drink each day.

The weather at the moment is changeable, so please make sure your child has a named coat everyday in school with them. They may also want to bring an extra layer if they get cold, especially with windows and doors expected to be open.

Reading books - please can these be brought in everyday. We have reading sessions each day and an adult will hear your child read during the course of a week.

Curriculum letters and homework menus will be sent out at the beginning of each half term. This will inform you of the learning throughout the half term and any key dates we already know about. Do look out for messages and work updates on seesaw as well. New codes will be sent to you in case yours has expired.

Finally, Mrs Harradine will teach the class on a Thursday afternoon from 1.00 - 3.10pm. Additionally, Mrs Poynter will teach the class every other Wednesday while I am released  to support other TPAT Penwith primary schools with curriculum development in PE.

Many Thanks
Mr A Kevern
